My Meaty Man

This story was just so funny I had to tell it.

Today JJ and I decided to go to Costco and stock up on some meat. We grabbed some backpacks and off to the Metro we went! For those of you who have never lived in a big city without a car, you'd know a trip to Costco as something pretty different. We get on the Metro, go 3 stops, get on the next train, go 2 stops, get off the Metro, walk 2 blocks, then we're finally there.

So we go shopping, and, since we were there for some meat, we headed right to the back of the place. We go to the meat coolers, and I leave JJ to look for some steaks. When I look back, I see that he's struck up a conversation with a man that was very well-dressed and neatly trimmed. Hmmm....

Apparently, the conversation went a little bit like this:

"Excuse me, is this a good price on this meat?" says the stranger.
"Yeah, it looks like a pretty good deal to me." responds my husband.
"I just usually shop at a butcher's in Dupont Circle"
*Note that Dupont Circle is where most of the gay bars are located*
"Oh, yeah, well Costco generally has really high quality meat at a good price... for example, this is a USDA-Certified Prime New York, at a price that you could pay for Choice somewhere else."
Then I walk up just when the stranger says.....
"Well, I'll get them then... You look like a guy who really knows his meat!"

.......Gay guys love us.

And yes, JJ really does know his meat. As in steaks. What a dirty mind you have.

JJ TOOK THE JOB!!

JJ TOOK THE JOB IN DC!!!!!!!!!!

He accepted this morning, and told them he can start in Mid-May. I'm very proud of him, and excited for the opportunities that this job provides (Master's Degree, higher pay, more chance of being promoted, he'll work close to where he lives, etc.)! As in the rest of life, there are always some downfalls (2 semesters living apart is really the only real one). There are so many things to do before we leave!

I also was planning to do my internship this summer, which means that I have to find a summer internship in a hotel/bed and breakfast/restaurant/institutional culinary management, so that we can be in DC for the summer, and start our sad 2 semesters apart in fall.

If anyone has a contact that could hook me up, lemme know! I'm having a hard time even getting started--I have this fear:

DC isn't just a summer tourism place. It's a year-round tourism place. So it's not like people are generally hired for 3 months of the year.

I need to get 450 hours between May 15-Aug 25... ugh. SOMEONE HAAAAAALP! I'm willing to do just about any job in a hotel, except laundry/housekeeping. I just need something!! Please just comment/email me and I'll love you forever and like you for always :-).

JJ's Sad Finger

We were having a superbowl party at my parent's house, and were innocently preparing the guacamole, when all of a sudden, THWACK!

. . . . . . . .JJ chopped off his finger. . . . nail. . . . . well. . . . part of it.

It's so sad/gross! It's literally just a chunk out of his fingernail. EEEEEEEW.

It looks even gross-er close-up. I feel so bad for him! I'm sure it's painful, but he's got a problem with his machismo, where he can't admit that it hurts. Whatever.

I'll let you know if it turns green and falls off.

EW, it's so gross.

Tee Hee

I took this picture of JJ trying to figure... something... out with the dishes, and I think it's funny. He's the best husband ever because he always does the dishes and I love that! Dishes are icky.

Also, I finally figured out how to add a list of friends, which is actually really easy. So if you have a blog and you come here a lot you should tell me to add you to the list so I can blogger stalk you, too!

Staci and Garrett--Your blog won't add to it! I don't know why. :(
